Guests join a small group with an experienced tour guide, prepare food and get to know the elephants while feeding them.Ideal attire is loose, comfortable clothing for walking around in hot weather, with sneakers on your feet to maneuver through any mud and high grass. Then, a change of waterproof clothes and flip flops for bathing the elephants, since you get in the water up to your knees and can easily get splashed.

Sandals Are Fine in Certain Situations

Strappy, open toe, high heeled shoes are totally fine in almost any environment, but, as unfair as it may seem, comfy Birkenstocks are not. Though some women will wear pantyhose with their sandals (yikes!), most women do not and being bare legged is not considered offensive.

What not to do around elephants : Avoid sudden movements and noise. Sudden movements or loud noises can startle elephants and provoke defensive or aggressive behavior. Move slowly and quietly, especially if you are nearby. Elephants have a keen sense of smell.

What to wear when visiting elephant Sanctuary

We recommend lightweight clothing along with plenty of sun protection, a hat and sunscreen to protect you for the day as the sun can be stronger in Thailand than in your home country. We would also recommend packing your reusable water bottle to keep you hydrated throughout the day.

Of course, this can cause an injury in its own right. With a potentially stressed, three-tonne elephant nearby, this is something you very much want to avoid! All things considered, elephants do not want to be bathed by humans, and humans shouldn't bathe elephants.You will have no problems with just a touch of color in a shirt, bag, etc. 🙂 Probably the only time you might find any issues would be if you were wandering around all wearing red shirts or all wearing yellow shirts.
